Different year... Same result! Soccer With Attitude (SWAT) wins the 8th World Cup organized by the Virginia Tech soccer. It is their an unprecedented fourth win in as many years.

Who: Students, Alumni, and Faculty/Staff from any Virginia University or College
When: All day tournament on Sunday, April 10, 2016.
Where: Soccer/Lacrosse practice fields across from Lane Stadium.
Details: The Virginia Tech World Cup Executive Committee hosted its 8th annual soccer tournament on Sunday, April 10, with help from Tech's men's soccer team as part of a campus-wide effort to put on the event. Previous tournaments have included student participation from schools such as Radford University, Virginia Military Institute, James Madison University and Hollins University.
The goal of the World Cup draw and soccer tournament is to promote sport as an avenue to sociability, formative interaction and collective spirit, but the WCEC is committed year round to increasing interactions between diverse communities, which will hopefully increase interaction between many diverse communities, while providing a catalyst for long-term organizational development and partnerships. The pre-tournament World Cup Draw functions as a mini-conference examining the cultural and historical formation of national and regional identities through public and civic engagement in the global sport of soccer.
